The costs of coaching and mentoring
The cost of coaching is that it will take time both from the coachee and from coaches because a specific time frame, a plan, a specific location and guidelines along with plan is required to conduct coaching. As a result both coachee and coach need to allocate time for such activities. The time when allocating time for coaching can be invested in work and such coaching activities will put an organization in pressure because they cannot do any overtime and they have less number of employees than the past. However, the impact of coaching is more positive for future. On the other hand, mentoring does not require extra hours of training or money.
The most potential drawback of mentoring is that the return of investment is not for guarantee, rather it is uncertain. Therefore, employees become unable to prevent their weakness and it harm the outcome of the organization.
Another drawback is the relationship is forced where the mentor may not have time for mentee but have to play the role of mentor. As a result, mentors do not give much effort to enhance mentee’s skills and mentees become unable to improve the quality of their work.

The benefits of coaching and mentoring
The benefits of coaching and mentoring is that it helps employees to improve their performance by preventing the weakness that did not let them to perform better to achieve the success of their organization. The company will be able to ensure proper utilization of employees’ talent that will bring best outcome for the company. In addition, the company will be able to motivate employees through coaching because it improves relationship between employees and departments of organization. Employees of the organization will be able to identify solutions to their work problems and it will bring higher productivity in operations.
One of the key advantages of mentoring is it ensures solid leadership development and organizations gets ideal leaders. The company will make employees feel valued while investing in mentoring because employees will see that the company is investing on developing their career. It will decrease employees’ turnover because employees get the opportunity to be well prepared for their better career. As a result, employee retention will be increased that will reduce replacing cost of employees for the company. Mentors pass constructive feedback that helps mentee to be more qualitative. As a result, the organization’s employees will be able to fulfill their additional responsibilities by being more confident and experienced through mentoring.
